Super GapThe Super Gap is the first effective mechanism to open and close gates greater than 40 feet (12 meters). In fact we’ve had farmers successfully use the Super Gap at over 100 feet. The Super Gap is unique in the fact that it’s the only double wire gate. The smaller section can be opened independently to allow the passage of Ute’s and smaller machinery and then when the need arises, the larger expanse can be opened to allow extra wide farm machinery through. The key feature of the Super Gap is what we call the Boot and Foot. The Boot is a slotted plate that drives into the ground and the Foot is a flat plate attached to the base of the main post. The Foot slides into the Boot and the tension of the wire locks it in place even while the smaller gate section is open. The main post incorporates the equalizer bar to allow the Foot to slide in the Boot as it will only slide while there is equal tension on the wires. When we open one side the wire tension becomes unequal on the other side of the gate, locking it in position. To open this section we pull sharply on the top of the post equalising the tension and allowing the Foot to slide out of the Boot. |
